All sites were tight, many set up for awnings to face your neighbor. Had "buddy site",but would not want a buddy site without a buddy. Power was an issue when sections F&G were full. Management knew about the issue, but did not get a licensed electrician in to fix it. Repeat customers say this is a known issue. Pool was small for size of campground. Did not see any security patrol after dark. Probably would not return unless we were guaranteed a larger site and are assured the power has been updated.
The Beach Campground section is close to the ocean. Can be extremely windy. The sites near the entrance have large dunes as a buffer from the wind. The sites are large but there are some low hanging trees to navigate. Dump station is not located in the campground. It can be crowded with very little room to wait in line without being on the main road. We ended up dumping at a Flying J. Overall a nice place, but found other SC state parks on the ocean we like better.
Beautiful Scenic Park loaded with Palm trees. Made us feel like we were on a tropical island. I was not impressed with the set up of the campsites. They are laid out to minimize the amount of trees that would need to be removed. This preserves nature, but does limit the sites that are available to tall fifth wheels and slide outs. The reservation web site has no warnings of low hanging branches and limited room for slides. We would not have cleared the branches on main road to the back loop and barely fit into our site due to a leaning tree. I would recommend the park, but use caution because you may not fit in the site you choose due to the trees. The beach was beautiful. Even though the campground was full, the beach felt deserted. Bug spray is a must! The lower rating due to the site layout and tree clearance.
Great campground for overnight stay along I-95 at exit 77. About 5 miles off of the interstate, but worth the drive. Bathrooms were clean and the owners were very nice. We would stay again if in the area.
